Opal - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Marathoning a series is fun but reading this one and having to realize that there's only one left, is not fun. I'm talkin' about my baby Opal. I <3 it

The Amazon description:
The Lux series continues with the third installment of this riveting paranormal YA series. No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something I'll do again, and now that we've made it through the rough patches, well...There's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love. After everything, I'm no longer the same Katy. I'm different...And I'm not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I'm capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won't turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever. Together we're stronger...and they know it.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
THIS BOOK!
At first I couldn't get into this book, which is crazy if I look back. I don't exactly know why but when I did get into it, it was AMAZEBALLS.
This one has got to be my favorite out of the ones I've read. I'm currently reading Origin and it's making me really sad but also laugh out loud.

You should definitely check out the Lux series. You will not be disappointed. Believe me. It's action-packed, funny and it has DAEMON BLACK in it. I know you want to read it now.

My Rating:

Spoilery section:
Don't continue on reading this if you haven't read the book because it will ruin everything.
Last chance. Go.

THEY ARE FINALLY TOGETHER. FINALLY. I loved it so much when they were together because they are the best. I was fangirling everytime they were close. #ship
But like three quarters of the way through I was like: this ending will be or really good or suckishly bad. It was the second.

The end. Oh, the lovely end. (sarcastic voice). I hate you.

Why must you do this to me, Jennifer? Why? I know it was kind of expected but I don't want it. If they don't get back together in Origin or the next, I will want to do not so nice things to Jennifer. I still love you, by the way.

Is there one person on this earth that likes Blake? If so, how? I hate him. I knew something was off when he came back and when Katy got onyx on herself when they tried to free Beth and I was right. This is one of the times I'm sad to be right. I wish it'd gone differently.

I had to stay up till like 11:30 P.M. to finish it. In a way it was worth but in another way, it sucked. There I was, on the couch, crying. All I could think was: WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY
This was my review with a spoilery section. Let me know if you liked it and if I should keep on doing this. I enjoyed it a lot!

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour - Morgan Matson

I've read this book a while back and I just keep on thinking about it! It's mostly just jealousy but still. I thought, why not review it?

Amazon description:
Amy Curry is having a terrible year. Her mother has decided to move all the way across the country and needs Amy to drive their car from California to the East Coast. There's just one problem: since the death of her father, Amy hasn't been able to get behind the wheel of a car. Enter Roger, the son of an old family friend, who turns out to be unexpectedly cute...and dealing with some baggage of his own. Meeting new people and coming to terms with her father's death were not part of Amy's plans for the road trip. But then neither was driving on the Loneliest Road in America, seeing the Colorado Mountains, visiting diners, dingy motels and Graceland. But as they drive, and she grows closer to Roger, Amy finds that the people you least expected are the ones you need the most -
and that sometimes you have to get lost in order to find your way home.

I usually don't read a lot of contemporary books but I'm really happy I made an exception for this one! So Amy has to drive across the United States. Roadtrip! I've only been to America a couple o' times and then only in NY, and that's why I got so jealous reading this book. I was like: but I've never been there or there or there. MOOOOOM I need to go on this roadtrip! True story.

In this book every few pages there isn't text but pictures. It's Amy's diary of the roadtrip. You see pictures of places, landscapes and FOOD. Every time I would just be like:
I feel you, bro, I feel you.
I really enjoyed the romance in this book as well. It was really predictable, that's the only downfact, but overall it was really cute.

If you feel like a light, fluffy contemporary read then this is the book for you!

Onyx - Jennifer L. Armentrout

So yeah, I fnished Onyx and I loved it. You can tell because I read it in about three days! Here's the Amazon description:

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks...Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon's determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I've sworn him off, even though he's running more hot than cold these days. But we've got bigger problems. Something worse than the Arum has come to town...The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I'm a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who's got a secret of his own. He knows what's happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard. But then everything changes...I've seen someone who shouldn't be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he's never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them--from me? No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies...

As I said before, I loved it. I know I should say now if I liked it better than Obsidian but I just can't choose. I think I liked the action better in Obsidian but the whole connection thing in Onyx was amazing. The feels, guys, the feels! Daemon Black is on my top-5 fictional boyfriends. I mean, he's freaking Daemon Black.
The friendship with Dee was amazing but it was sad to see that towards the end of the book, Katy became distant and she spent less time with Dee. And those parts were always one of my favorite. My absolute favorite moments were, ofcourse, with Daemon.

The Lux series is an absolute MUST to read. It'll make you feel all the feels, literally. Love, action and friendship make Onyx an amazing sequel to Obsidian.

Waiting on Wednesday: Blood of Olympus

Waiting on Wednesday was created over at Breaking the Spine. They are awesome so please go check 'm out!

Now I've got a lot of books I'm looking forward to so I'll definitely keep on posting these every week!

My pick this week is one I absolutely need this moment!

The Blood of Olympus - Rick Riordan to be released on October 7

The Blood of Olympus is the fifth book in the bestselling Heroes of Olympus series - set in the high-octane world of Percy Jackson.
Though the Greek and Roman crew members of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen - all of them - and they're stronger than ever.
They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood -the blood of Olympus - in order to wake. The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it might be able to stop a war between the two camps. The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east.
The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over...

Well that's what it says on Amazon. I cannot wait!

Sadly, the cover is not yet revealed. I really like how the American covers look but it's much cheaper to get them in their British edition since I live in the Netherlands.

I love the Percy Jackson series, absolutely adore it. When I heard that there was another series set in the same world I was beyond the world excited. By then, the first two were out. It's so funny, when the third book was released, I bought the first three books. I got the first two in paperback and the third one in hardcover. Boy, that thing is huuuuuuuuuuuge! Now I also have House of Hades in the huge hardcover edition. It looks ridiculous on my shelves. Seriously.

Hope you enjoyed - leave a comment down below on what you think and which book you're most excited for!

Top Ten Characters Who Piss Me Off

Top Ten Tuesday was created over at the Broke and the Bookish. I really enjoy their blog so please go and check them out!

(Some of these I really hate and some just pissed me off)

1. Ash from the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Just to mention, I've only read Obsidian. Maybe she'll become really awesome in the next books but Jesus that girl pissed me off! I wanted to give her the finger a LOT!

2. Thomas from the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu. What a stupid guy is he. First [potential spoilers] he kills his best friend, acts like he's the best guy in the world for doing so and then begs June, Metias' little sister, for mercy. Screw you!

3. Commander Jameson also from the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu. Ugh. She sucks.

4. Suprisingly Four from the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. Before you go all angry on me, let me explain myself. I loved Four in Divergent and Insurgent. He was amazing. But Allegiant on the other hand... Four became this stupid guy [potential spoiler] complaining about his genes. I still love him and I kept hoping throughout the book that Four would change back to the guy I love. So I don't hate him but he did piss me off.

5. Bellatrix LeStrange from the Harry Potter Series by Queen J.K. Rowling. I love this woman. She's awesome. But [potential spoiler] killing Sirius Black... Girl, you crossed a line!

6. President Snow from the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I know, pretty obvious, but still. He needs to be mentioned.

7.  Queen Titania from the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. She pissed me off by yelling at Meghan. I mean, she has a reason obviously but still. Don't. (She overreacted)

8. Hera from the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. She was mean and did things that just make me SO angry.

9. Gaea also from the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. I seem to be pissed off by all the bad guys. Oh well, that's why they're here, right?

10. Sebastian from the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. God, even thinking about him makes me want to scream.

Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Description on the back of the book:

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring...until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien.

Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

I l-o-v-e-d this book. Absolutely adored it. It is amaze-balls. As Katy would say totally swoonworthy! Daemon is the awesomest but most infuriating character EVER. Katy is part of the reason I started this blog (hence the title of my blog). I loved how she freaked out over packages with new-release books and in general was a booklover. When I read the first page and saw her mention her blog I was hooked. I mean, you can't go wrong with a booklover. Seriously. Dee is also an amazing character and a great friend. At first I thought she would be bitchy and arrogant but I was wrong. She was cool and sweet and really enjoyed Katy's company.

This book is book 1 of the Lux series. The other books out right now are called Onyx, Opal and Origin. I've got them all! I've only read like one page of Onyx but it was already amazing!

If you want a read that immediately hooks you and doesn't let you go until the end then you have found your book!

Across the Universe - Beth Revis

Amazon Description:

Amy has left the life she loves for a world 300 years away

Trapped in space and frozen in time, Amy is bound for a new planet. But fifty years before she's due to arrive, she is violently woken, the victim of an attempted murder. Now Amy's lost on board and nothing makes sense - she's never felt so alone.
Yet someone is waiting for her. He wants to protect her; and more if she'll let him.

But who can she trust amidst the secrets and lies? A killer is out there - and Amy has nowhere to hide . . .

This book is filled with amazing characters, sudden plot twists and lots of mysteries. The characters are interesting to read about and can be relatable. I say can because sometimes they do things and I'm just like: whaaaat?

I loved reading this book and can't wait to complete the trilogy. The sequels A Million Suns and Shades of Earth are out already. You should definitely check this book out!
